It is a 2km Handicap event open to parents, students (P-12) and staff. Competitors are welcome to run or walk. We race each Tuesday morning in Term 2, with warm up available from 7.30am. Racing begins at 7.50am and is usually finished by 8.10am.
Runners score points based on their placing in each race with their best four results this year contributing to their overall score. Runners in Year 3 and below require a parent in attendance (they don’t have to race). So if you feel the need to get out and do some fitness work then this is a fun and healthy way to do so.
Mr Michael Davis leads a running group at the school that trains on the front oval on Tuesday and Thursday nights, starting at 4.30pm throughout summer.
The group looks to develop fitness and running efficiency whilst preparing runners (from the College and also the wider community) for major school competitions and state and national events. The group is open to students from Year 6 upwards, and to any eager adults looking to improve their fitness. The length of training sessions will vary dependent on the ability of the runners. Mr Davis is an ATFCA Level 4 Middle Distance Running coach with also a Level 1 Sprints, Hurdles and relays qualification. The major focus of this group will be on distance training from 800m up to 10km. Interested runners should contact Mr Davis at the College for further details: Michael.Davis@cornishcollege.vic.edu.au.
