Swimming Squad

Cornish College students in Year 3 to Year 12 have the opportunity to work on their swimming and fitness as part of a school swimming squad.

This is a squad session, as opposed to swimming lessons, and students attending are expected to be able to perform freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke proficiently and have a level of fitness appropriate for squad training.

Sessions take place on Wednesday mornings (except the first Wednesday of the term) at the Don Tatnell Leisure Centre, corner Warren Road and Brisbane Terrace, Mordialloc, between 7.00am and 7.50am and are run by a squad training coach provided by the facility. Parents can drop students off at 7.00am or stay on to bring them to school after the session finishes.

Cornish College’s Number 1 bus goes past the venue at 8.05am. Should you wish to take advantage of this service you would need to book Bus 1 for the Wednesday morning and pay the associated fee. Students already paying for a term bus ticket would be able to use this service without further cost but would still need to confirm a seat on the Number 1 run.

SIS-Swimming-Team-Captioned
Cornish College’s SIS Swimming team won the SIS Division B Swimming Carnival at MSAC on 18 April 2016 for the second year in a row.

Term 1 swimming squad is by invitation only to enable our secondary swimming team time to prepare for the SIS swimming carnival which takes place in week 3 of term 2. From week 4 term 2, interested students from year 3 upward can apply to participate.

The cost per term is added to school accounts and charged in advance if you decide to enrol your child. These sessions will run all year but will be dependent on a minimum number of students attending to make the sessions viable. Once signed up, all enrolments will automatically roll over into the next term unless notice is given otherwise.
