Cornish College has demonstrated substantially above average gain in reading achievement as measured by NAPLAN. We are one of just 64 schools in Victoria identified for an area of such significant improvement by CEO of ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority), David de Carvalho.

The substantially above average gain was achieved in students’ reading measured from Year 3 to Year 5 2018, and Cornish College received congratulations as improvement of this magnitude is significant.

We are committed to improving learning outcomes for all students and have implemented a range of measures to understand individual student needs. This includes using data, such as NAPLAN results, reports and other testing, to provide insights into student achievement.

In 2020, we will continue to develop our use of data to plan for and deliver programs and teaching strategies that are targeted at students’ learning needs. We have also invested in dedicated teaching resources for literacy and numeracy in primary years and mathematics for secondary to drive continuous improvement.
