Outdoor learning provides many opportunities for students to engage with their natural environment and to be challenged mathematically.”
Year 1 students participate in Dhumba dha biik, or Talk Country, a weekly program where the children spend the morning out on the property. The focus for each session is different and here Mrs Parrington and Mrs Millar present ‘The She Oak Challenge.’ “Here is an idea designed to encourage mathematical thinking that we believe we have pursued with great success with our children. Concepts embedded in the activity include time, estimation, counting and mathematical structure.” Read more below.
