VSGA final logoCornish College has been awarded a $500 Sensory Garden Grant from the Nursery and Garden Industry of Victoria as part of the 2016 Victorian Schools Garden Awards.

Cornish College’s application was put together by Ms Nicola Forrest, Deputy Principal, and focused on the building of a labyrinth for everyone in our community to use. A labyrinth is a simple contemplative pathway used for mindfulness.

Walking a labyrinth is an opportunity to slow down and reflect and it is different to a maze; it is flat on the ground, has only one path and no dead ends, so you can’t get lost. It is a universal and non-denominational symbol, an inclusive space which welcomes people of all faiths.

Cornish College Chaplain, Mr Jarrod Davies, and Grounds Manager, Mr Tom Humphreys, will be working on a design that incorporates many indigenous plants. More information about where the labyrinth will be located and how it will be constructed will be communicated in the coming weeks.
