In the classroom, we provide quality instruction based on the Australian Curriculum and AusVELS frameworks to ensure students develop a ‘toolbox’ of essential skills. Our inquiry based teacher-facilitated learning enables students to use these skills to extend their learning. It enables students to grasp concepts and ideas that go beyond the classroom. This is how we provide true differentiation for students.
We also embrace our physical environment as part of our teaching, as custodians of 100 acres of natural parkland traditionally owned by the Bunerong people. We believe our grounds are a ‘third teacher’ providing many learning opportunities and we incorporate these into our curriculum design.
Ensuring that all of this translates into a meaningful and engaging experience for our young people is a true test of creativity for our teachers. If we want our students to be creative, problem-solving, innovative citizens, then our teachers must lead the way. And they do.
